I Am Writing Competitions Shortlist 2026
I Am Writing Competitions - Have you made the shortlist

We love hosting our I Am Writing Competitions each year, knowing that so many of you pull your work together to submit to the TWELVE categories on offer! And with 120 titles appearing on our shortlists we know this must be a welcome boost to so many of you.

This year, after listening to your feedback about novels spanning genres, we expanded our range of categories to include Commercial Fiction and Non-Fiction, giving as many of you as possible the opportunity to get your work noticed by a literary agent or publisher.

Thank You To Our Category Sponsors

We owe a HUGE heartfelt thank you to our lovely friends at Little Tiger Press, sponsoring and judging the Picture Book category for the fifth year partnering with us. (Do keep your eye out for event days we run with this incredible team at the publishing HQ in London.)

Also a MASSIVE thank you to Naxos Creative for sponsoring our first ever retreat for the Commercial Fiction category prize. The lucky winner will receive a place on the How To Be A Happy And Successful Writer retreat on the Greek Isle of Naxos, and will be very well looked after for one week in September! (The very nice Naxos team has even offered our writing community a special discount – just use the promo code IAIPNC when booking any of their writing retreats and receive 10% off! Sun, sea, and all things books - bliss!)

Time to find out if you've made the shortlist?

Behind the scenes, the eleven agents and one publisher who agreed to be our judges have been hard at work narrowing down their selections to a top ten in each category. This creates a collective shortlist of 120 titles . . . and four of those titles appear on two lists!

As the competition is judged anonymously, the judges still have no idea who they have chosen. The shortlisted titles (in no particular order) can be found below. If you spot your entry on one of the lists, you are welcome to bust out the celebratory moves! Please also feel free to share news on social media that your work has been shortlisted, but please keep your title anonymous for now, as we don't want the judges to discover which entry is yours just yet.

If you're celebrating online, remember to tag us at @iaminprint in all the usual places so we can share in your excitement!

8 x 50% discounted places were donated by I Am In Print

The wonderful writing community donated an additional 6 places making a grand total of 68 writers who were granted discounted or free of charge entry into a competition of their choice.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a place!

Stay Strong

Huge well done to all of you who entered. It takes so much courage to share your work with industry professionals. We feel your disappointment if you didn't make the shortlist and want to encourage you to take some time to dust yourself off and carry on. You write because you love it, and that is key. The judges have reported that they enjoyed narrowing down their choices but found it tough to choose – some are still deliberating over their winning titles because, they tell us, the level is so high. Throughout the week, we’ve seen the scores shifting as they wrestled with who to take through to the next round. You may have just missed out this time, but there will be more opportunities ahead. Keep going. We’re willing you on and sending you every good wish.

Here's the bit you came here for – can you see your title below?

If you can, check back on Monday 22 June 2026 to discover if you made the Top Three.
